Suvretta House: The Best Place to Play Tennis in St Moritz

Last weekend, we were invited to stay at the famous Suvretta House. The historic alpine hideaway in St. Moritz, and, easily the best place to play tennis in this charming Swiss town. They provided us with a beautiful room overlooking their three clay courts, with a backdrop of the mountains.

Our mornings started early: first, a workout at the spacious Sports & Pleasure Club’s fitness room with the latest Technogym equipment. At 9:00 we hit the clay courts. Playing at an altitude of 1822 meters, surrounded by nature and mountain views, was a summer experience we've never had before. St. Moritz's weather those days were ideal for tennis. The temperatures never exceeded 20 degrees Celsius.

Afternoons were reserved for hiking. We explored trails from Suvretta all the way up to Langosteria restaurant (though it was closed for the summer), through the Via Alpina, and then on to Trutz restaurant, a true institution in the area. The hike ended with a walk down to Chasellas, another incredible restaurant just above Suvretta.

Dining at Suvretta House was a highlight in itself. The first night, we enjoyed a casual dinner at Suvretta Stube and Sun Terrace. Our second evening was spent at the Grand Restaurant: a black-tie dress code and a beautiful ambiance.

On our last day, we visited Muottas Muragl and took in the view of St. Moritz from an altitude of 2452 meters. The panoramic vista was stunning.

A stay at Suvretta House is the perfect blend between relaxing in understated luxury and staying active with tennis and hikes. Our few nights spent there left such a memorable impression. We couldn’t be more content to have found the best place to play tennis in Switzerland’s alpine paradise.
